Bitcoin multisig wallet

The Bitcoin multisig wallet with no single point of failure

A multisig wallet needs more than one key to spend, so losing a phone, a hardware device or even a wallet company can't lose your bitcoin. Nunchuk makes multisig easy to set up, lets you mix keys from different makers, and plans for your heirs from day one. Free to start.

The problems

Why multisig

A multi-signature Bitcoin wallet, or “multisig” for short, is the safest way to own bitcoin. Single-signature setups keep proving the point: one device, one vendor, one point of failure.

Weak security

The majority of bitcoin lost has been due to the owners' mismanagement of a single key, not external factors. A single key means a single mistake, loss or device flaw is enough to lose everything.

Hard to use

Traditional multisig wallets on the market are difficult to use, often accessible to only the most tech-savvy Bitcoin users.

No inheritance

The complexity of traditional multisig breeds another problem: how to pass on your bitcoin to your loved ones. The more secure a wallet, the harder it is for your family to access it after you are gone.

No single point of failure

Nunchuk was created to solve exactly these problems

The starting point of our design is a multisig wallet. A multisig wallet is both more robust (you can lose one or more keys and still access your funds) and more secure (spending requires more than one key). It is a must when storing bitcoin for the long term.

Our job is to bring down the barrier of entry to multisig, and to create an easy way for Bitcoiners to pass on their wealth.

Multi-vendor multisig

Multi-vendor multisig: keys from different makers, one wallet

A multisig wallet removes the single point of failure of one key. Multi-vendor multisig goes one step further and removes the single point of failure of one manufacturer.

One vendor is one point of failure

Every hardware wallet depends on its maker: the code that generates your seed, the firmware that signs, the supply chain that delivers it. A flaw in any of them is shared by every key from that vendor, and flaws like these have let attackers drain wallets without ever touching a device.

Different makers share no flaw

In a 2-of-3 wallet, two keys from the same maker are exposed to the same flaw, and two keys is enough to spend. With keys from different makers, a flaw in one vendor never reaches the threshold. Your bitcoin stays safe even if one manufacturer gets it wrong.

One app coordinates them all

Nunchuk is a wallet coordinator, not a hardware maker, so it has no vendor to favour. It works with 10+ hardware wallets over USB, QR codes, SD cards and NFC, and the onboarding wizard adds each key in minutes, on your phone or desktop.

Most popular

Assisted multisig

A Nunchuk platform key co-signs within the rules you set: spending limits, co-signing delays, key health checks, automated key replacement, cloud backup and emergency lockdown.

Assisted multisig

From easy onboarding to assisted recovery, you will be in good hands

Easy onboarding

Setting up a multisig wallet has never been easier. Our onboarding wizard will guide you through every step of the way, all directly from your phone.

Cloud backup

The multisig wallet configuration is securely backed up. With our assisted recovery feature, you can regain access to your wallet on a new device with a few simple steps.

Safety in layers

Multisig already mitigates the risk of key loss, but fret not if you ever lose your key. Our assisted recovery will make recovering your key a breeze.

Inheritance planning

A wallet, no matter how secure, is incomplete without an inheritance plan. Our innovative solution makes it easy to pass on your bitcoin without compromising on security.

In-app chat support

If you ever need more help, rest assured that you'll be able to talk to one of our experts. All accessible directly within the app using our built-in messenger.

Rethinking inheritance

A dedicated inheritance key, separate from daily use

Most Bitcoin wallets treat inheritance as an afterthought. By contrast, inheritance planning is an essential element of our design.

Nunchuk pioneers the use of a dedicated inheritance key, separated from the other keys in your wallet. This key is not intended for daily use, and can only be activated on a future date chosen by you. Your wallet remains highly secure day-to-day, while your Beneficiary has an easy mechanism to access your bitcoin in the future.

Emergency lockdown

Lock down your wallet if you face an imminent threat

Or simply need to go off-the-grid for a while.

Flexible spending policies

Get granular security control by configuring how the platform key behaves

A spending limit restricts the platform key to only co-sign transactions that don't exceed the spending limit for a given period. Use one of your hardware keys when spending small amounts, and require two for large amounts.

A co-signing delay gives you time to detect errors or unauthorized access before a transaction is broadcast.
